Obtaining a Trade Mark registration is an inexpensive and effective way of safeguarding your business.

HallMark IP can file Trade Mark applications in the UK, Europe – via the Community Trade Mark system – and internationally – via the Madrid Protocol. In addition, we can arrange for filings at any of the national Trade Mark offices worldwide through our extensive network of approved overseas attorneys.

A National Registration provides protection in relation to a particular mark in a particular country and is obtained through the National Trade Mark Office of that country. In the UK this is the UK Intellectual Property Office. A Community Trade Mark Registration is a single registration obtained at the Office for Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM) and provides protection in all member states of the European Union (currently there are 27).

An International Registration enables a bundle of National Rights to be sought in one or more countries which are party to the Madrid Protocol, by filing a single application centrally at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).

There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these types of registration and your HallMark IP attorney will be able to advise you on the best choice for your particular circumstances.

Once the application is filed we will take the lead in progressing it to registration, advising you on how any objections raised by the Trade Mark office might be overcome and ensuring all necessary actions are taken within the specified deadlines.
